Local knowledge, finally organized.
Kitchener-Waterloo is one of Canada's fastest-growing tech hubs — and one of the most overwhelming places to land as a new student, co-op intern, or newcomer. Every semester, thousands of people ask the same questions on Reddit, Discord, and Facebook groups. We built KWise to fix that.
Why KWise?
The best local knowledge in KW lives in the heads of people who've been here a term or two. It's scattered across Reddit threads that go stale, Discord servers that are hard to search, and Facebook groups full of noise. KWise curates that knowledge into verified, up-to-date tips that anyone can find in 10 seconds.
Who it's for
- University of Waterloo co-op students starting a new term
- WLU, Conestoga, and other post-secondary students
- International students navigating Canada for the first time
- Newcomers settling in Waterloo Region
- Young renters and professionals new to KW
Our principles
Privacy first
No tracking cookies. No ads. No selling your data. Your email is for login only.
Community-verified
Every tip is reviewed by a human before going live. Votes surface the most helpful content.
Always free
Core tips will always be free. We may offer premium features eventually, but the basics stay open.
Built in KW
KWise was built by a KW resident who got tired of answering the same questions every semester. This is a passion project, not a VC-backed startup. We're local, we care, and we're in it for the long haul.
